How much time should one person spend in applications and sending out resumes in one week? What is a good balance of time? What should one avoid putting on an application? How do you know what rate of pay to ask for (or put inside the box on the app.)? What usually turns an employer off?
I think you just got offline so you may not get this until after your interviewbut, as fra as thejob experience" I would just write "small business owner." as an interviewer, it would prompt me to ask you to elaborate, thereby giving you the opportunity to explain, and not just say "Landscaping"
For interview ettiquette, you should really just be yourself. If you are normally reserved, then go for that, if you are normally boisterous, do it up! Remember that you ARE talking to your potnetial boss, so dont go crazy, but just act however you normallly would, you dont want to misrepresent yourself. You DO need to exude confidence because thats what they are going to notice right off the bat, BELIEVE you are right for the job, and let that come out during the interview, not in a cocky way of course, but, you know what I mean.
I will absolutely pray for you at your interview, and Good Luck!
I am sorry that I missed your before getting a chance to tell you good luck with the interview. I would have to concur with Alessandra when referencing to your "Landscaping" business especially at such a young age. If you are finding it to be a road block then I would suggest that you list the business name and dates worked. If I understand your response correctly you stated that you were employed and then owned the business. So if you did I would think that you would have taken part in the business side of the company. Therefore, if I am not mistaken you should honestly be able to respond to the question, "What type of work did you perform?" with the following list: customer relations, scheduling, ordering, quality control, employee relations, accounts payable & receivable and laborer. That sure does look different than cutting grass doesn't it?
Now as far as your volunteer work, please don't ever discount what you do as a volunteer. I know that my sons school as a requirement for scholarship funds and internship programs requires he has to have community service hours. I would think that if the Schools of Technology and large potential employers of the programs such as CSX requires that the seniors have community service hours then it must look pretty good on a resume.
OK enough said. I don't want to sound like I am lecturing. My prayers are with, good luck.
