It's that time of year again!
I'm starting this 'Homeless Outing' discussion a little earlier this year, because I really want to give
hats/scarves/gloves to the homeless as a gift. We need a lot of them.
They come in packages in department stores. Some are separate, meaning there might be a scarf/glove combo or a hat/scarf combo, but maybe not all three. If you want to donate, I'd love it if you donated all three (which means pick up a hat or pair of gloves in addition to the other combo if you can), that way we consistently have an even amount. If you can't donate hats/gloves/scarves, but want to help, there are other ways!
Last year we fed about 75 people. There could be more, there could be less, but lets plan for more! I'd rather have extra for next year or other people we may come across, than run out!
We need:
Hats/Scarves/Gloves (if there are sizes, go for Large or 'One Size fits all')
Ribbon (Christmas-y, most likely 4 rolls, no bigger than 1" or so wide)
Construction paper, possibly markers (you know, Crayola-type kids markers)
Candy Canes
Coffee (already ground)
styrofoam cups
coffee stirs
creamer (powdered)
sugar (either already in the pourable container or packets)
doughnuts (7 dozen assorted)
And you can also come along! It's on Christmas Day, time TBD - but it will be in the morning. We will meet at Hemming Plaza - there are parking spots along the sidewalk and down towards the library. We had a great turn out last year! I hope you can make it!
If you can't go Christmas day, but want to get together to do something, we will be making Christmas cards (that's what the markers and construction paper are for) and get some of the things ready for distribution. Date and time TBD (Obviously sometime before Christmas).
Email me if you have any questions, want to come, or already know what you'd like to donate. If you don't have time to go out and get anything, but would like to donate funds, that is welcomed too!
