Profile Information

My Current Occupation:
College
My major:
Psychology
Birthdate:
7/23/89
About Me:
Let's see:
I'm 19 years old.
I'm majoring in pyschology, but I have no idea where I'm going long term with it.
I try not to dwell in the future too much.
I love the A218 community and I'm so thankful I came across it on the UNF campus.
My Interests / Hobbies
I love kids. I try to spend as much time as I can with some awesome refugee kids out at Silver Creek. These kids are from all over the world and absolutely make my heart jump for joy and break it at the same time. I like to color a lot. And read when I have spare time. I love playing with my kitty and puppy when I'm home.
My Goals / Aspirations / Dreams
I really want to make a difference in Burma. I can't stand the fact that there are people in this world that are willing/trying to kill the amazing people I get to hang out with. It makes me absolutely sick. I don't know yet what that looks like but I want to do something.

I hope to eventually to travel to the Middle East and India and other not so safe places like Burma, Thailand, China, Sudan, the Congo, and Liberia. Asia is definitely on my heart currently more than Africa but we will see where the spirit leads! :)

Oh and eventually I want to travel to Egypt! Like I've wanted to since 3rd grade and hopefully I will!!! :)
The things that make me want to get out of bed:
Normally I don't want to, but I've learned that forcing myself to is a very positive thing in the long run! :)
My favorite place I've been:
I'm not the sort of person to have favorites but I really like the Colorado Rockies, the Smoky Mountains, Maine, and the beach in general!
My books I'm reading:
Reversed Thunder-Eugene H. Peterson, Jesus for President-Shaine Claiborne, Freedom from Fear-Aung San Suu Kyi and lots of books I can't think of at the moment..
A little known fact about me:
I broke my left arm 5 different times in 4 years and had surgery on it twice.
One thing I hope to accomplish this year:
I hope to raise awareness about the issues Americans don't seem to know about... Basically what is going on in the Burma where a lot of the refugee kids I hang out with are from!

Questions, Goals, and Causes... Basically my Current Thoughts...

So the past week has been one of the most trying times in my life. Between my best friend getting ready to go halfway around the world, and everything I’ve been doing in my spare time I feel like the world is spinning out of control.

It started with the US Campaign for Burma National Organizational Meeting last weekend. Washington D.C. was a blast. I met a lot of really cool people who are using their gifts and talents to help people they may never meet. It was a little overwhelming, but phenom… Continue

Stirring...

So Jesus has been breaking my heart lately, like breaking it to the point of me sobbing. People generally tell me I’m emotional and mood swingy and I claim all of that as a part of me, but somehow this is different. On Monday night, ACCESS218 hosted a showing of the PASSION TWENTY TEN WEB LAUNCH LIVE. Because it was a live webcast from the Passion House in Georgia about every five seconds it was buffering and would pause. We missed a lot of the singing and a lot of what Louie said, but God moved… Continue

Good Morning!

The Jacksonville Launch is right around the corner and we are going to be having our final meeting this Sunday, July 12th at 2:00 up at the church. We will be discussing all of the details of the launch and what we need to get done for it so everyone will be on the same track. If you cannot make it for some reason please let me know as soon as possible so I can catch up with you before the retreat the following weekend. I hope to see you all Sunday!

Thanks,
Kassie Sikes

Good Morning. We are having a meeting Sunday at 9:00 outside of the resource center at church for the Jacksonville Launch. This meeting is to go over more details and is not mandatory. If you are interested in planning more of what will go into the retreat and are able, please come. If not, that is completely fine and we will see you on July 12th at the last meeting before the youth retreat. I will send an update on e-mail about what is going on between now and then. Hope to see you Sunday!
