ACCESS218

living. learning. preparing.

We believe that God has called ACCESS218 to serve college students and young adults in North East Florida. To see college students and young adults living today in God's reality, learning in community what it means to be a Christ-follower and preparing to be leaders in the cause of Christ and His Church for the transformation of the world. For this season of my life, it is the mission that God has set before me and before many of you as well.

I am thankful that we are connected to 200+
of these college students and young adults via the Community Site.
I am thankful that we can interact with 150+
of these college students and young adults who come to a Weekly Gathering.
Its not about the numbers. Its about the people. And I love these people.

But there are around 20,000 college students enrolled at UNF & JU alone.
And according to a recent statistic, the college ministries in Jacksonville are reaching 1000.
And thats a generous number.
I wonder what those numbers would look like if we included all college age and young adults in all of NE Florida.
It probably wouldn't be good.

We are called to serve college students and young adults in NE Florida.
Does it mean that we wait until they come to a Weekly Gathering?
Does it mean that we wait until they are considered an "A218 person"?
Does it mean that we wait until they are hanging out with us at a social event?
Does it mean that we wait until they are a classmate or coworker?
Does it mean that we wait until we know their story?

I don't think so.

As I was ordering food at Panera, I heard the Spirit say about the young man behind the counter, "him too." As I was driving down Southside, I heard the Spirit say about the college age girl broken down on the side of the road, "her too." As I was walking to my seat in the airplane, I heard the Spirit say about the JU student flying back to Jax, "him too."

We are called to serve them too. And I believe we are called to serve them now.

During this season, we have prayed for God to give us eyes to see.
I can no longer go anywhere without seeing these people.
Seeing the 19,000 JU & UNF students who aren't being reached.
Seeing the college students and young adults across NE Florida who don't know yet that there is a God who loves them.

At the end of today, will I know the name of even one more of those unreached college students or young adults than I did when I woke up this morning?

We are on mission.
People on mission live strategically.

What an amazing vision. And very true also. You are so right! I was thinking something a little similar to what you are saying today when I was at the mall. There was a young lady sitting by me by herself. She looked a little lonely and I thought about talking to her and inviting her to Access, but never worked up the courage. Then later I was kicking myself in the butt.. Haha. But you're right! There are so many unreached colleged students that don't know, and aren't being reached.
